Meeting Minutes
11/10/09
Call to order
Matt Trotter called to order the regular meeting of the Polk Elementary Community Council at 4:00 on November 10th 2009 in the Polk Media Center.
Roll call
Matt Trotter conducted a roll call. The following persons were present: Sheldon Cheshire, Kathy Johnson, Janean Montgomery, Gloria Richards, Shanna Robins, Matthew Trotter, Jeanne Clifton, Kathy Gleed, Ron Mann, Shelly Ripplinger, and guests Emily Reeves, and Donna Corby from Ogden School District. Excused: Amanda Greener and Jen Thompson.
Approval of minutes from last meeting
Matt Trotter read the minutes from the last meeting. The minutes were approved as read.
Open issues
Gold Medal Schools- Report about walk to school day, fewer people came. Kathy Gleed will give Emily the miles for October. Golden Sneaker requirement are being met at schoolboy the following: 1st-6th grade have 30 min. P.E. weekly, 25 min. of recess daily, and 15 min. structure P.E. Third grade will schedule grocery store tour. Reviewed monthly themes for the Community of Caring.
Sheldon brought computer to record meeting minutes, but we are still in need of a microphone.
School Land Trust- Finalized 2008-2009 Land Trust Report. Jeanne will submit to the state. The budget carry over from 08-09 was discussed. Jeanne is meeting with district to discuss the 09-10 budget. Donna explained that LTF money can be used for certain capital expenditures, such as; bookshelves and cabling and instillations for technology. This year efforts will be made to spend our entire allocation.
New business
Community invited to the proposed boundary changes meeting on Nov.10th at 5:30 p.m. at Polk Elementary. The council discussed possible ramifications of Taylor Elementary re-opening i.e. technology in the portable classrooms, loss of teachers, students affected, and capital funds for improvements.
